To hunt legendary animals in Red Dead Redemption 2, start by exploring the map for each target’s territory. When you cross into that area, you’ll get a message that you’ve entered legendary animal territory and begin a trail of clues. Use Eagle Eye to reveal glowing markers and inspect them in order: 1st clue, 2nd clue, then the 3rd clue. After the third clue is examined, the legendary animal will spawn and you can engage it. In single-player, legendary pelts are always perfect and cannot be damaged by your weapons, so you can fight with your preferred gear and still obtain a premium pelt when you skin it. Once slain, skin the animal to obtain the Legendary Pelt; you can sell it to the Trapper or keep it for crafting. Important: each legendary animal is a one-time spawn per save file in Story Mode, so you won’t re-encounter the same legend in the same game.
