To hunt legendary animals in Red Dead Redemption 2, start by exploring the map for each target’s territory. When you cross into that area, you’ll get a message that you’ve entered legendary animal territory and begin a trail of clues. Use Eagle Eye to reveal glowing markers and inspect them in order: 1st clue, 2nd clue, then the 3rd clue. After the third clue is examined, the legendary animal will spawn and you can engage it. In single-player, legendary pelts are always perfect and cannot be damaged by your weapons, so you can fight with your preferred gear and still obtain a premium pelt when you skin it. Once slain, skin the animal to obtain the Legendary Pelt; you can sell it to the Trapper or keep it for crafting. Important: each legendary animal is a one-time spawn per save file in Story Mode, so you won’t re-encounter the same legend in the same game. In Online, be aware that explosive or incendiary ammo can ruin pelts, so exercise caution. The Expert Hunter Outfit can double the loot you get from pelts (excluding the heart).
