More info
At launch, Dying Light: The Beast arrived as a standalone continuation of Kyle Crane’s story and — importantly for original owners — brought the free Dying Light: Retouched Update that enhances visuals and sound across the classic game. The Beast also introduces a new open-world setting (Castor Woods), Crane’s beast transformation abilities, new weaponry and survival mechanics, and revamped gore and environmental systems. The Retouched Update specifically lists upgrades such as enhanced/upscaled textures, a new “Ultra” 8K shadow quality, improved PBR on metals and water, extended LOD ranges and a remastered soundtrack — all free for Dying Light owners. Post-launch, Techland published an 11‑week roadmap and has been issuing patches: updates have added quality‑of‑life changes, new enemy behaviors and features (for example, a surrender mechanic and additional weapon executions), balance and crafting tweaks, and plans for things like New Game+, Legend Levels, ray tracing and Nightmare difficulty.
